High blood pressure
High blood pressure is common in people coming for surgery. The anaesthesia team will want to know your usual readings, which medicines you take, whether your blood pressure is normally controlled, and whether you have heart, kidney or other complications.
One high reading in a clinic can have many explanations and does not automatically mean surgery must be cancelled. Very high or symptomatic blood pressure may need reassessment, treatment or a discussion about timing. Bring your medication list and any home readings if you have them.
